Mamsha Area – Hurghada City
Mamsha (or Memsha) is definitely one of our favourite locations in Hurghada. During the cooler months, Mamsha is a great location to get some excercise outside. Plus, an evening stroll is easy in the pedestrian zone area.
If you are looking to have an evening out from your resort then Memsha may be the location for you. Especially if it is names that you are looking for. That is because Mamsha is home to fast food outlets that will definitely please the younger generation. Plus, wonder to the top of Mamsha and you will discover a more relaxed environment. Here you can sit and admire that statues and art on display
Also, Mamsha is a great location for shopping. You will find Cleopatra’s Bazaar here. Because of the fixed prices on everything, this is a great hassle free place to shop. Also, Carrefour supermarket is tucked just behind Mamsha.
Downtown Hurghada – Hurghada City Center
Downtown Hurghada is also known as Hurghada city center. The main street in downtown Hurghada, or Hurghada city center is Sheraton Road. Here you will find fast food restaurants that you will recognise. Plus you will find same great Egyptian fast food restaurants. In addition, Sheraton Road in Hurghada city center is a great location to find all the main mobile phone shops and money exchanges. Looking to do some bazaar shopping? Then Sheraton Road, in Hurghada city center is definitely the location for you!
Downtown Hurghada is definitely worth visiting from your resort. Plus there is plenty to see and do in this part of the city. This is because Hurghada city center is home to Hurghada Marina, with its bars and restaurants. In addition, Sherry Street is located in Hurghada city centre. This area of Hurghada city center is a recently developed pedestrian zone. There are plenty of local places to eat and people watch. You will find the best Egyptian rice pudding shop in Sherry Street!
El Dahar – The Old Town Of Hurghada City
El Dahar is the older end of the city and is the hub for residents. This is because it is the location for the main markets and government offices. Those needing to extend visas will find themselves visiting Dahar. Plus, if you are in the area, the traditional markets are definitely something to experience.
It is worth popping into Saint Shanouda Cathedral when you are in Dahar. Definitely not on the scale of European cathedrals but the stained glass windows are rather special.
