The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is the new home of the ancient Egyptian mummies. It is the first museum in the Arab world to focus on the Egyptian civilization throughout history. Helpfully the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization has been divided into sections. This definitely helps the museum to showcase everything that it has to offer.
Located in Old Cairo, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is definitely worth visiting. Plus it is so easy to visit independently if you are staying in Cairo. Entry tickets can be purchased on site on the day. In addition, you can buy tickets online for the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. However, the musuem is not yet included in the Cairo pass programme. Importantly, the museum is open every day, with last entry at 16.00.

National Museum of Egyptian Civilization: Main Hall
The big ticket items are located in the Main Hall if the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization. Displays in the Main Hall span a range of points in time. Including Pharaonic, Islamic, Medieval, Coptic, Greco-Roman, Archaic, contemporary and modern periods. The boat exhibits are rather special. Plus they help provide a unique insight into Egyptian culture and history.
National Museum of Egyptian Civilization: The Mummies
The Mummies Hall at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is definitely one of the best bits that you won’t want to miss. The Mummies Hall has been specially designed to make you feel like to are in the Valley of the Kings, Luxor. This is because most of these mummies were originally laid to rest in the Valley of the Kings. Because the Mummies Hall is quite spectacular and unique!
The hall includes 20 royal mummies. 18 of these are mummies are of Kings. Plus 2 are mummies of Queens. The most famous mummies in the Mummies Hall are Hatshepsut (Maatkare), Thutmose III (Menkheperre), Seqenenre Taa II.
National Museum of Egyptian Civilization: Egyptian Textile Hall
The Textile Hall at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization opened on World Heritage Day in 2022. The displays are truly unique. Many of the items were transferred from the Textile Museum. Including the stunning dresses of Queen Nariman, from the Egyptian royal family.
