Manasterly Palace & Nile Meter Vitual Tour
Firstly, take a virtual tour of Manasterly Palace, Cairo. See why it is famous for its beautiful decorative style. Be amazed by its wooden architecture design. For example, its walls and ceilings are highly decorated. Observe the coloured plaster ornaments and bird figures. Also note that the floors of the two main halls are beautiful marble and parquet. Located in the garden is the Nilometer. Built in 1861 AD. Used to measure the Nile during the annual floods.
Hassan Fouad Al Manasterly Pasha was the Governor of Cairo in 1854 AD. His palace is located on the Nile River island of Al Rawda in Cairo.
Tomb of Whaty Virtual Tour
Wahty, was a high-ranking official of King Neferirkare Kakai and the Tomb of Wahty is truly amazing! Recently discovered, the discovery of the Tomb of Wahty was shared with the world in Secrets of the Saqqara Tomb, a Netflix documentary released in October 2020. Whaty’s tomb was discovered in Saqqara, approximately 30km west of Cairo. Take a virtual tour of the Tomb of Wahty.
When discovered, the tomb of Wahty contained the burials of Wahty and his family: his wife Weret Ptah, his four children, and his mother Merit Meen. Interestingly, his wife and children were buried standing up in narrow shaft graves without coffins. Whilst Wahty was mummified relatively poorly and buried in a plain wooden coffin bearing his name.
The virtual tour of the tomb allows you to get up close to the well-preserved and brightly coloured carvings that adorn the tomb walls.
Muhammad Ali Pasha Mosque Virtual Tour

This instantly recognisable building is in the citadel of Salah al-Din. The citadel was constructed from 1176. The mosque was built between 1832 and 1857, during the reign of Muhammad Ali (1769-1849). The mosque is largely constructed in Ottoman style. Interestingly, instead of marble, the architects chose Egyptian alabaster to decorate the mosque.
Gayer-Andersen Museum Virtual Tour
Finally, it is time for a virtual tour of Gayer-Anderson museum. A beautiful historical house in Old Cairo. Plus, this piece of history has a great story to tell. Furthermore, it is a great remnant of Islamic architecture at the time. Take a virtual tour of the Gayer-Anderson Museum.
Owned by several different wealthy families over the years. However, it gained its name during its time as home of British officer Gayer Andersen in 1935. Importantly, his stunning collection of art is on display. Also, furniture, carpets and Egyptian handicrafts remain in the house. As a result, this is a great museum to explore. Interestingly, Gayer Anderson was an officer in the Royal Army Medical Corps, plus he was seconded to the Egyptian Army.
