Whales In The Desert

In contrast to today, 40 million years ago the Egyptian Sahara Desert was underwater and the sea was full of life. Most importantly, this area of the Western desert is now a UNSCO World Heritage Site. In addition, this unique history of the world location is relatively easily to explore. Without a doubt, this rather unique place still has plenty of secrets to give up. With that in mind, start exploring!

Additionally, Wadi El Rayan has many other spectacular sights to explore including lakes and waterfalls. These are in complete contrast to the desert scene. With this in mind, you should add exploring this oasis in the desert to your bucket list!

Wadi El Hitan is located in the protected national park of Wadi El Rayan. You can easily spend a couple of hours exploring the area. Above all, the gigantic whale fossils are quite special. Everywhere you look you will see fossils! In the first instance visit the museum and check out the items on display. You will love what you see!

As a result of discoveries, Wadi El Hitan is now known locally as Valley of the Whales. Furthermore, the volume of archaeological remains found here make this an extremely exciting site for tourists and archaeologists. So with that in mind, you may uncover a marine fossil on your trip!
