Valley Of The Kings

Of course, Valley of the Kings is famous for the tomb of Tutankhamun. However, there are many more tombs in the valley. Importantly, the valley is located on the West Bank of the great river Nile. It was opposite the ancient city of Thebes. Whatsmore, the valley is known to contain at least 64 tombs and their multiple chambers. Specifically, Valley of the Kings was the principal burial place of the major royal figures of the Egyptian New Kingdom. These royal tombs are decorated with scenes from Egyptian mythology. Giving clues to the beliefs and funerary practices of the time.

An important thing to know is that tombs are open on rotation. This is to help preserve the tombs. Plus, be aware that a general entry ticket gives you access to three main tombs. An additional ticket is needed for tombs of special interest. All tickets can be purchased on site on the day.
